PIRA index: 2C20.10

Description

Many vertical tubes filled with liquid is connected to a horizontal tube with varying diameter. The liquid in the vertical tubes is connected. When air is blown in the horizontal tube the difference in pressure in change the level of the liquid in the tubes accordong to Bernoulli's law

Equipment

  • Venturi tubes
  • Colored alcohol
  • Support with clamps
  • Air blower
  • (Optional) Ruled paper
  • (Optional) Camera

Instructions

  • Install the Venturi tube on the support with the clamps.
  • (Optional) Attach ruled paper behind the vertical tube to make the change in height more visible.
  • Fill with the alcohol so that the vertical tubes are half full. Attach the air blower.
  • Attach the air blower at one end of the horizontal tube.
  • Turn the air blower on.
