Description

The magnetic field from the magnets creates eddy currents in the spinning aluminium disk. The eddy currents create an opposite mangetic field which pushes the magnets up, making it levitate.

Equipment

  • Spinning aluminium disk with the electric motor
  • Magnet sled
  • Counterweight for stability

Instructions

  • Start the spinning aluminium disk
  • Move the magnetic sled with some weight on it on top of the spinning disk and watch it levitate
