Description
A balloon expands when the air pressure is reduced around it. A balloon in glass jar connected to a vacuum pump will expand to take the entire volume of the jar
Equipment
- Bell jar
- Little balloon
- Surface with seal and hole to the vacuum pump
- Vacuum pump
- Straw
Instructions
- Place the rubber sheet on the the circular plate and make sure the holes are aligned
- Place the balloon in the middle
- Place the bell jar on top of the balloon making sure nothing is between the rim and the rubber sheet.
- Connect and turn on the vacuum pump
